Mamuju, Sulbarkita.com— The Provincial Government of West Sulawesi has disbursed a budget of Rp. 2 billion for the Regional Public Company (Perumda) Sebuku Energi Malaqbi. The funds are to support the company's operations which will manage the rights to participate in the Sebuku Block Participation (PI), between Sulbar and South Kalimantan.
"This capital participation is based on the provisions of the Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 1 Year 2018 article 8 concerning the establishment of the Regional Regulation," said West Sulawesi Governor Ali Baal Masdar in his press release, Sunday 2 December 2018.
West Sulawesi did get a PI of 5 percent of the Sebuku block management located on Lari-larian Island, a long disputed island between the Government of Majene and Kota Baru, South Kalimantan. On the island, oil and gas blocks are explored by PT Pearl Oil, an oil and gas company from the United Arab Emirates.
In accordance with the MOU between the West Sulawesi Provincial Government and the Majene Regional Government July 26, 2018, a PI of 5 percent will be divided into two. Namely 2.5 percent for the West Sulawesi Provincial Government and 2.5 percent for the Majene Regional Government.
According to Ali Baal, in the Perda establishing the Sebuku Regional Regulation which was ratified in March 2018, the West Sulawesi Provincial Government has the authority to foster, supervise, and fund the Regional Regulation. He also hoped the West Sulawesi DPRD would also take part in evaluating the company's performance.
"We hope that this regulation will be managed professionally and proportionally. So as to provide economic and social benefits to the community, "Ali Baal said.
Therefore, Ali Baal hopes that the officials of Perumda are people who have high ability and integrity to develop the company. That was said by Ali because the Regional Regulation was in the process of changing leadership.
"Currently the selection of candidates for the Board of Trustees and Directors is being carried out by involving experts and community leaders," he said.
Ali Baal also mentioned the MoU between the West Sulawesi Provincial Government and the Majene Regional Government. According to him, the MoU has been carried out as agreed.
The making of the MoU was indeed colored by protests from the Majene community. Because Ali is rumored to want to issue a Governor Regulation which states that the PI obtained by Majene is only 1 percent.
