Mamuju, Sulbarkita.com - Head of Bank Indonesia West Sulawesi Representative, Dadal Angkoro, said that the global economy which is growing uneven and full of uncertainty will continue in 2019. Therefore, he calls on the regions to strengthen resilience in facing the impact of the global economic slowdown.
"It must synergize with each other while maintaining the momentum of economic growth in the country," Dadal said at the BI Annual Meeting at the Hotel d’Maleo Ballroom as quoted in the press release of the West Sulawesi Provincial Government, Thursday 6 December 2018.
However, Dadal is convinced that West Sulawesi can pass this condition. Because West Sulawesi is considered capable of passing uncertain economic conditions this year, "West Sulawesi's economy was able to grow 7.9 percent in the third quarter of 2018, with low and stable inflation," he said.
The global economy does show the risk of slowing growth in the medium term and increasing risk factors in 2018. These risk factors mainly stem from trade tensions, normalization of interest rates for some Central Banks, and geopolitical tensions in some regions.
One form of tension that surfaced was a trade war between America and China. This condition makes the International Monetary Fund or the IMF revise the 2019 global economic growth target from 3.9 percent to 3.7 percent or the same as the recorded growth in 2017.
West Sulawesi's economic growth in 2018 is quite good, said Dadal, proving that this region has a fairly good defense in facing global obstacles. "This further increases Sulbar's role in the national economy," he said.
From the note, Dadal also believes that the economy of West Sulawesi in 2019 still has resistance to global conditions. In fact, he said that the economy of West Sulawesi would be even better in the mid-long term. "The key to all of that is the synergy of West Sulawesi's economic policies between the Provincial Government, Regency Government, BI and all other authorities, as well as other institutions in West Sulawesi," he stressed.
The Deputy Governor of West Sulawesi, Enny Anggraeny Anwar, then appealed to all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and district government, to collaborate with BI in increasing economic resilience. One form, Enny said, is to accelerate development in West Sulawesi. "In order to realize advanced development and malaqbiq," said Enny.
