Low Quality of Education, Javanese Transmigrants Leave Polman

Polman, Sulbarkita.com -- Dozens of Transmigrant Family Head (KK) from Java who are in Piriang Tapiko Village, Tubi Taramanu District (Tutar) left the transmigration settlement location. One reason is the problem of education in the region which is quite low.

"There is only one school, and even only an elementary school and only one teacher," said the Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office (Disnakertrans) Polman, Abdul Salam, when met at his office on Monday 9 September 2019.

Most of the transmigrants who have occupied the location for two years come from Central Java and East Java Provinces. "The returnees were almost entirely from Java, but the indigenous population remained," Abdul Salam said.

Transmigration patterns vary according to Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (Kemenakertrans) regulations, some 70 percent of which are local residents and 30 percent outside, there are also 80 percent of the local population and 20 percent outside.

"Transmigrants of local residents still exist, but transmigrants from Java in the 2016 fiscal year there are 10 households and in 2017 there are 15 households, a total of 25 households now the remaining four households," said Abdul Salam.

According to him, the transmigrants living in Tutar have been given a one year life guarantee and given two hectares of land per family. "But the land must not be traded if it hasn't been enough for five years," Abdul Salam explained.

The transmigrants, said Abdul Salam, were generally not farmers, only they had received a transmigration program. To support them, the government has improved transportation facilities through the budget of the Affirmative Allocation Fund (DAK) and APBN worth billions of rupiah. "They there develop plants on dry land, such as sweet potatoes and corn," he said.

Chairman of Pitu Ulunna Salu Student Students Association (KPM-PUS), Irfan, deeply regretted transmigrants from Java flocking to leave Tutar. That is because the people's money used for the transmigration program is very large.

Not to mention the added budget for road repairs and other facilities in the transmigration area, which amounts to billions of rupiah. "I have already visited there, I see transmigrants from Java, the remaining two families who occupy his house, the others are empty," he said.
