Majene, Sulbarkita.com - Runaway Aria Bin Mahammad, 41, a prisoner from Palu, Central Sulawesi who escaped after the earthquake and tsunami in his area finally ended. The inmates of the Class IIA Detention Center, Maisah Palu, surrendered to Majene. "I surrender myself on my own initiative," Arya said when met in Majene Class II B Prison, Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
Aria is an inmate of illegal logging or illegal logging cases. The father of one child was charged under Law Number 18 of 2013 Article 83 Paragraph 1 concerning forestry with a sentence of 2 years in prison for 3 months.
When the earthquake and tsunami struck his area on Friday afternoon September 28, 2018, the inmate who had only spent five months in prison said he was released by the guards to save himself. "We were released temporarily and were given a week to return to surrender," he said.
Instead of returning to prison, the opportunity was instead used by Aria to run away. After leaving the detention center, Arie went straight to the terminal in Palu. From there, he boarded a car for Majene. Majene is approximately 450 km or approximately 9 hours from the area.
Aria did go to Palu. His wife and children are in Luaor Hamlet, Bonde Village, Pamboang District. But unfortunately he used a shortcut to support his child and wife with illegal logging so that he was sent to prison.
Even though he managed to gather with his family, Aria was not calm because of his status as a prisoner. Moreover, the mass media continued to broadcast news about the threat of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prisoners who fled from Palu.
Since October 19, Aria has also strengthened her determination to immediately contact the Majene Detention Center. "I don't want to be a List of People Search (DPO) later on," he said.
Class IIB Detention Chief Majene I Wayan Nurasta Wibawa appreciated the goodwill of Aria. According to him, these steps must be emulated by other prisoners who are still free to roam.
"Hopefully other prisoners who are still outside are immediately aware of reporting themselves like Aria," said I Wayan Nurasta when confirmed Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
At present, said I Wayan, the Majene Detention Center is collecting Aria detention documents in the Maisa Palu Detention Center. This is so that Aria can be detained at the Majene Detention Center at her request and with her family. "In accordance with the coordination results of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Sulbar, permission is permitted."
Aria is one of 1,425 inmates who escaped from detention during the earthquake and tsunami hit Palu, Donggala, and Sigi, Central Sulawesi. Quoted from the CNN Indonesia page, the inmates and detainees came from Class IIA Palu Penitentiary, Women's Class Prison (LPP) Class III, Class II Palu Special Child Development Institution (LPKA), Class II A Detention Center (Rutan) Palu, and Detention Center for Class II B Donggala.
