The Language Development and Development Center of the Department of Education and Culture in Jakarta compiled the Mandar-Indonesian Dictionary in 1977. The compiler was Abdul Muthalib from the Language Research Center, the installation of the Language Development and Development Center in Ujungpandang.
The purpose of compiling this Mandar-Indonesian dictionary is to develop knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes towards dictionary compilation activities, as an effort to prepare a number of dictionary compilers. Then increase the work in the form of dictionaries both in terms of number, type, and source language, which can be used as information and further research, and stimulate research enthusiasm in the field of language.
Although funds and opportunities are limited, with the provision of enthusiasm and knowledge obtained during the training, this dictionary can be presented to the public in its current form.
The publication of the Mandar-Indonesian Dictionary will enrich the literature, especially in the field of dictionary. It is also hoped that this publication will open up wide possibilities for further development and its use to develop the Indonesian language in the future.
