Majene, Sulbarkita.com -- The former Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) Majene Regency for the 2016-2018 period, Sayyid Adwil Al Mahdaly, invited the public to respond to the riotous demonstration in front of the STIKES Bina Bangsa Majene (BBM) campus with a cool head. According to him, the demonstration carried out by the Islamic Student Association (HMI) Majene Branch could have a bad impact if it was not communicated properly.
"Moreover, there was a victim of a beating. Don't let the victim's family get angry until something undesirable happens. "This issue must be addressed with a cool head," Adwil told Sulbarkita.com, via telephone on Friday, March 14, 2025.
A video has been circulating on social media of a demonstration carried out by the HMI Majene Branch in front of the STIKES BBM campus, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The video shows demonstrators facing off against dozens of women in hijabs who are STIKES BBM students. The action finally turned chaotic after the HMI flag carried by the demonstrators was pulled until it was torn.
Reported from various media, the HMI Majene Branch held the demonstration to demand that the campus suspend one of the STIKES BBM students who is a cadre of HMI Majene. As a result of the chaos, a number of STIKES BBM students experienced acts of violence.
According to Adwil, demonstrations are one way to convey aspirations, but taking to the streets must be done wisely without causing negative impacts. "Don't let the students' struggle get empathy from the community," said the current Head of the ESDM, Environment and Forestry Department of the BPC HIMPI Samarinda City, East Kalimantan.
The STIKES BBM graduate also invited the HMI Majene Branch management and the internal campus organizations of STIKES BBM and the academic community to sit together to resolve the problem. "In this holy month of Ramadan, all problems should be discussed properly so that a peaceful point can be reached," said Adwil.
