West Sulawesi Provincial Government: Governor Offers Night Dinner to KPK Chairperson

Mamuju, Sulbarkita.com — The Provincial Government of West Sulawesi finally spoke about the polemic about the dinner schedule KPK Chairman Firli Haburi with West Sulawesi Governor Ali Baal Masdar on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Head of the Office of Communication, Informatics, Library and Statistics of West Sulawesi Province, Safaruddin Sunusi DM denied the existence of the dinner party.

"After the event on the IV floor (room pattern of the IV Floor of the West Sulawesi Governor's Office), the Governor offered dinner, but the KPK chairman was not pleased," Safaruddin said in a release on the West Sulawesi Kominfo Facebook account, Saturday 25 January 2020.

Nevertheless, Safaruddin admitted the West Sulawesi Provincial Government had scheduled Firli's dinner with the Governor at the Governor's Office on Wednesday night. However, the Chairperson of the KPK failed to attend. "Because indeed if there are officials who come to West Sulawesi, the procedure is to be friendly and have dinner. We will only prepare it, but the Chairperson of the KPK is not willing to attend," Safaruddin said in a press release sent to Sulbarkita.com.

Both Governor Ali Baal Masdar, Chairperson of West Sulawesi Legislative Council Suraedah Suhardi, and top ranking officials of the West Sulawesi Provincial Government were already at the location for dinner at around 7:30 pm. However, Firli failed to attend the meeting. "The head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is eating at the hotel," said West Sulawesi Region VIII Coordinator, KPK, Mohammad Jhanattan via WhatsApp message Wednesday.

Earlier, Firli arrived at Tampa Padang Airport, Mamuju on Wednesday afternoon. He was welcomed by the North Sulawesi Police Chief Brigadier General Baharuddin Djafar, Kajati Sulbar Darmawel Aswar, West Sulawesi Governor Ali Baal Masdar, and Mamuju Regent Habsi Wahid. Firli also joined the official convoy to the West Sulawesi Governor's Office.
But Safaruddin also denied that Firli was picked up. "The KPK is very committed to a work ethic. The visit of the KPK leadership is to come and not pick up and go home without transfer.
