Jakarta, Sulbarkita.com — The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) apparently conducted an investigation related to the alleged sale of Malamber Island, in Bala Balakang Village, Pulau Bala Balakang District, Mamuju. This was revealed when the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian held a working meeting at the Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Monday, July 13, 2020. "The results of the investigation or explanation we received from the Provincial Government of West Sulawesi that the island is still in land status, no one has a certificate there," said Tito as broadcast on live TV Parliament, Monday, July 13, 2020.
Although no one has a certificate yet, Tito answers the question of many parties about the alleged sale of the island. "There are those who are trying to control the land, or own the land, or the island," said the former National Police Chief.

Previously, Malamber Island was in the spotlight because the Bala Balakang sub-district head, Juara, said the island was sold to North Penajam Paser Regent, Abdul Gafur Mas'ud for Rp 2 billion. But Gafur, who is a descendant of the Mandar tribe, Sulbar, through his lawyer denied the champion's statement. "That is not true AGM (Abdul Gafur Mas'ud) bought Malamber Island," said Agus Amri, Abdul Gafur's lawyer as reported by LKBN Antara.
Tito did not reveal the identity of those who wanted to take control of Malamber Island. But he gave an overview of the parties in question, "This enthusiast who has a family history there and grew up there," said Tito.
Tito explained that the party who wanted to overcome Malamber had made a transaction with 5 Family Heads (KK) who had been inhabiting the 6.4 hectare island. Nevertheless, Tito said that to take control of the island's land, the interested person must communicate with the government as eigendom (the party that owns it). "This land certificate document does not yet exist, so those who are considered to have eigendom (own) rights are the local government," he said.
According to Tito, it depends on whether the local government will provide or an opportunity for the interested person to control the land.
