Mamuju - The dream of Sulbar community to get a fast and convenient transportation modes will gradually materialize. After enjoying the air transportation facility with Makassar-Mamuju route through Tampa Padang Airport, Sulbar is now included in the Trans-Sulawesi Train Route (Celebes Train Route) project in 2018.
This project is a continuation of railway line that is now built from Makassar to Parepare along 140 kilometers. The plan is to continue the project from Parepare to Mamuju, the capital of Sulbar, along the 225 kilometer track, next year.
To start the project, the government of Sulbar has allocated budget for preparation of master plan and environmental impact analysis of Rp2 billion in 2016-2017. The project budget, will be borne by the center that will hold the private sector with an estimated budget of Rp31 trillion.
The construction of the railway line in West Sulawesi, certainly has a major impact on the economy of this cocoa and palm oil producing region. Because the choice of transporatasi a lot, would facilitate the distribution of local products throughout Indonesia. Even to foreign countries.
Local products that are managed by home industry are now developing in Sulbar. For example mandar silk scabbard, Mandar souvenirs typical, ginger coffee packaging, mamasa coffee, and typical food packaging typical Sulbar.Oleh therefore, this project is very much anticipated by the community of West Sulawesi.
Nevertheless, the government is expected to boost the land acquisition process that will be passed by the project. Because land acquisition is often tripped by the game of the mafia. Land acquisition is targeted to begin in 2017.
