Jakarta, Sulbarkita.com - Misappropriation of social assistance funds for residents affected by the economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic occurred in various regions. The Special Task Force for COVID-19 Fund Supervision as reported by Suara.com, has revealed 102 cases of alleged misappropriation of social assistance funds.
"The data received, there are 102 cases of misuse of social assistance. The cases were handled by Satgassus in 20 Regional Police Offices," said National Police Public Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General Awi Setiyono at the Police Criminal Investigation Office, Jakarta, Monday, July 27, 2020.
From the Police Criminal Investigation records, the most cases reported were North Sumatra Regional Police with 38 cases, then West Java Regional Police handled 18 cases, Riau Regional Police with seven cases. In the report, the West Sulawesi Regional Police also handled two cases of social assistance fraud.
Based on the results of the Task Force investigation, said Awi Setiyono, the reasons for the misuse of social assistance were fund cuts and uneven distribution. "Other motives for cutting funds for tired money, reducing the balance of basic food packages and finally there is no transparency to the public regarding the distribution system and funds received."
Meanwhile, Head of Region V Coordinator for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Budi Waluya said that he had coordinated, supervised, and monitored the distribution of Social Security in West Sulawesi and other regions.
